Constitution

|
1. TitleThe name of the Club shall be "Bluebirds Badminton Club".
2. Aims and ObjectivesThe aims and objectives of the Club are to further the development of, and participation in, the sport of badminton.
3. Membership
- The total membership of the Club (senior and junior) shall be fixed by the committee as circumstances warrant.
- As part of the membership fee the Club will affiliate all members to the Badminton Association of England (which includes "public liability" insurance cover).
4. Fees.
- Club membership, guest and match fees shall be such amounts as from time to time determined by the Committee.
- All fees shall be payable on the due date, and if after a reminder has been issued the fees have not been paid within thirty days of the due date, the defaulter shall cease to be a member of the Club. The defaulter may, at the discretion of the Committee, be re-admitted to membership on payment of arrears.
5. Annual General Meeting (AGM)The Annual General Meeting shall be open to all fully paid up members of the Club and should be held in the month of May, at a date and time to be fixed by the Committee, for the following purposes:-
- To receive from the Committee a report, balance sheet and statement of accounts for the preceding year.
- To elect the Committee, who will be charged with the management of the club until the next AGM.
- To decide on any resolution submitted to the Secretary three weeks before the AGM.
- The Quorum shall be three Committee members plus 5 other members.
6. Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM)
- An EGM may be called for any special purpose, with three weeks notice, by either a Quorum of the committee or any ten members.
- No other business shall be transacted other than that for which the meeting was called.
- In the absence of the elected Chair, a Chair shall be temporarily elected to preside and shall have any casting vote.
- The Quorum shall be a majority of the membership.
7. The Committee
- The affairs of the Club shall be conducted by a Committee which shall consist of a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Match Secretary and Social Secretary.
- The Committee shall be elected at the AGM in each year. Casual vacancies shall be filled by the Committee for the remainder of the current year.
- In the absence of the elected Chair a Chair may be elected as provided for in section 6. part ii.
- The Quorum shall be three Committee members.
- The Committee shall meet as and when required.
8. Banking ArrangementsThe Club shall have a bank account where any two Committee members can act as signatories.
9. GuestsEvery member shall be allowed to introduce visitors subject to such rules that are made by the Committee.
10. Complaints.Complaints must be made in writing to the Secretary and will only receive attention from the Committee if made in this way.
11. ConductThe Committee shall have the power to expel any member who shall offend against the rules of the Club or whose conduct shall, in the opinion of the Committee, render them unfit for membership of the Club.
12. Club RulesThe Committee shall from time to time make, repeal and amend all such Club rules as they think expedient for the internal management, use of courts and the well being of the Club. All such rules and amendments shall remain binding on Members until repealed by the Committee or set aside by a resolution at a General Meeting.
13. Amendment of the ConstitutionThis constitution can only be amended by a majority vote at a General Meeting.
14. Dissolution
- The Club may be dissolved by a simple majority vote at a General Meeting.
- Any funds or assets shall not be distributed among the Members but shall be given or transferred to another club or body having the same objective.
- If at any two successive General Meetings there is not a Quorum the Committee shall forthwith call an EGM to discuss the possible dissolution of the Club. If there is not a Quorum at that EGM the Club shall automatically be dissolved.
