Useful Info for Team Captains Minimize
At the beginning of the season team details (match dates, venues, team members, subs etc.) will be provided.

You, just like all members, will be supplied with a membership listing so you have names, addresses, telephone numbers and Badminton England numbers.

Your responsibilities are:-

  1. Make sure all team members can play and arrange any subs if needed. If it turns out you cannot get enough subs it is at your discretion to decide whether to play the match. If possible you should probably play the match anyway. If you have to cancel please tell the Fixtures Secretary as soon as possible. The Fixtures Secretary will try to rearrange the match but it is quite possible we will have to concede the match (and we lose the match income thus displeasing The Treasurer!).
  2. Make sure you have a scoresheet and your membership listing. For a home match the shuttles, nets and official scoresheet should be in our green box (which lives in our cupboard in one of the storage rooms).
  3. For an away match make sure you know the venue. If you have web access http://www.habl.org has league tables with links to maps for all clubs in the league.
  4. For a home match arrange food and drink with your players (enough for both teams).
  5. Fill in the scoresheet. Our Badminton England club number is 1800/4420. You must fill in the Badminton England membership numbers (for our members these will be on the membership listing). Please try to make sure you have all the Badminton Enland membership numbers for the opposition - do this before the match starts. During the match fill in the scores. At the end of either a home or away match check the opposition scoresheet matches yours. Both captains should sign the home team's scoresheets.
  6. Collect match fees.
  7. Return the scoresheet, cheque/cash etc. to The Treasurer ASAP. As always, cheques should be made payable to "Harlow Bluebirds Badminton Club". The committee will send the home scoresheets off to the correct HABL representative.
  8. Arrange a substitute team captain if you can't make it (and tell the committee who it is).
  9. Note: For home matches the ceiling and all lights are faults.
